Tasting Notes: Bright ruby-red in the glass, the Brigaldara Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso shows aromas of red plum, marzipan and exotic flowers, along with a saline nuance. Juicy and tightly coiled on the palate, with strong acidity that preserves the red fruit and spice flavors, it finishes with good purity of fruit and length. This classic Valpolicella wine is refermented on the fine lees of their Amarone for about. 5 days, with short pumping over to keep the upper part wet. This boosts the richness and structure of the wine.

Estate History: The name Brigaldara appears for the first time in a notary deed dated 1260. This name, for centuries, identified a villa, together with the farmhouses and the lands that surround it. In 1979, the Cesari family who had acquired the estate, began to make its own wine instead of selling most of the grapes it harvested. Brigaldara was one of the first wineries in Valpolicella to adopt a new technique in the aging process for both Amarone and Recioto. This technique was based on the double use of wood, where the wines are first placed in small barrels, and then complete the aging process in large 25hl Slavonian oak barrels. Small barrels promote oxygenation and color fixation, while large barrels complete the wines maturation process, adding roundness, structure and helping the development of its natural aromas.
